The Ancient World of the Celts
Young Harris College
Beginning April 18
Was Belgium a place named for a Celtic tribal confederation? What had the Celts to do with the Egyptians and Cleopatra? Or the Greeks? Or how about the recipients of letters to the Galatians'? There is only one way to find out! Beginning Friday, April 18, from 1 to 3 pm, Tom McKevitt will be teaching a six-week, twelve classroom-hour, non-credit course on 'The Ancient World of the Celts,' on behalf of the Institute of Continuing Learning (ICL), at Young Harris College, in Young Harris, Georgia. It will be afternoons from 1 to 3. Its cost will be $17 for the entire course. Any interested in learning more about the course, or enrolling, should call ICL's Bob Langenbacher at 706-379-2660.

Kayak Hike
Saturday, Apr 5 & 6, 2008
Tallulah Gorge State Park - Tallulah Falls, GA
Pending availability of water, for the first time the public will be able to take a ranger-led hike down Sliding Rock Trail to view kayakers braving Bridal Veil Falls. This is an extremely strenuous hike consisting of descending and ascending a 750-foot boulder field to the Class V Tallulah River. Register in advance. There will be two hikes each day, one will be from 11AM-2PM and the other from 12PM-3PM. $4 parking. (706)754-7981.

Wild about Wildflowers

Cloudland Canyon State Park - Rising Fawn, GA
Each Sunday in April join the park's naturalist in the picnic area for an easy, guided Wildflower Hike. The hikes will include flower identification, cultivation tips and good exercise. Bring water and a sack lunch. Limit 40 participants. $3 parking. 706-657-4050.
