Drum-Making Workshop Saturday,
Apr 5, 2008 9 AM - 5 PM Smithgall Woods Conservation Area and
Lodge - Helen, GA Grandfather Yellow Horse Man will tell the
story of the drum and instruct participants in constructing
a native frame drum. By the end of the day, you will have your
own beautiful drum to take with you. Materials provided. Register

Kayak Hike Saturday,
Apr 5 & 6, 2008 Tallulah Gorge State Park - Tallulah Falls,
GA Pending availability of water, for the first time the public
will be able to take a ranger-led hike down Sliding Rock Trail
to view kayakers braving Bridal Veil Falls. This is an extremely
strenuous hike consisting of descending and ascending a 750-foot
boulder field to the Class V Tallulah River. Register in advance.
There will be two hikes each day, one will be from 11AM-2PM
and the other from 12PM-3PM. $4 parking. (706)754-7981.
Intertribal Pow Wow

- Rising Fawn, GA Each Sunday in April join the park's naturalist
in the picnic area for an easy, guided Wildflower Hike. The
hikes will include flower identification, cultivation tips
and good exercise. Bring water and a sack lunch. Limit 40

National Archery in
the Schools (NASP) Instructor Training Friday, Apr 18, 2008
9 AM - 5 PM Smithgall Woods Conservation Area and Lodge -
Helen, GA NASP is designed to qualify Basic Archery Instructors
(BAI) for short-term youth archery programs. NASP's primary
objective is to help install archery programs in the schools.
Application for matching funds (half the cost of equipment)

Full Moon Suspension
Bridge Hike Saturday, Apr 19, 2008 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM Tallulah
Gorge State Park - Tallulah Falls, GA Enjoy the gorge in the
magical, shimmering light of the full moon. The hike will
begin at the Interpretive Center, following the North Rim
Trail, with a descent of the Hurricane Falls Trail staircase
of about 325 steps to the suspension bridge over Hurricane
Falls. This is considered a strenuous hike, consisting of
approximately 700 steps. Register in advance. $4 parking.

Confederate Memorial

Historic Site - Dahlonega, GA Members of Camp 1860 of the
Phillips' Legion Blue Ridge Rifles will show artifacts that
a Confederate solider would have carried. Handmade reproductions
